Job Profile:

The Finance & Economics (F&E) team, within the Renewable Generation & Finance subdivision of this consultancies Energy Unit, provides economic, financial, policy and strategic advisory services to Governments, Power Companies, Regulators, Project Sponsors, Investors, IFIs, Multilateral Funding Agencies and others; primarily for policy appraisal and evaluation, regulatory reforms, infrastructure & development projects in both fossil and renewable energy. They add value to their client businesses by providing support in project negotiations, executing M&A deals, conducting investment appraisal, feasibility studies, market modelling and forecasts, due diligence exercises, formulating national policies, developing business and risk management strategies and carrying out asset valuation.

Within the F&E team they have expertise relating to the generation planning, distribution and transmission planning and advisory work. They are seeking to maintain and expand this capability.

Job Description

The role requires working with a multidisciplinary team that examines all economic and commercial aspects of various types of energy related projects. In addition, the role would involve managing or leading project work, retaining and developing relationships with clients and potentially developing new business opportunities.  The selected person will work closely with our existing power system expert and will report to the team leader of the Finance & Economics Team.

Work will involve:

Due Diligence of electricity transmission and distribution projects,
Valuation of generating, distribution and transmission assets,
Review of capital and operational expenditure plans for DNOs,
Generation / transmission planning,
Feasibility & tariff studies,
Loss reduction studies,
Advice to support reorganisation / acquisition of distribution businesses,
Regulatory advice,


Candidate Specification:

Seeking individuals with a detailed ‘hands-on’ knowledge of the electricity distribution businesses. All applicants should be educated to degree level. Candidates should have experience in working for a distribution business.  They would have lenders/due diligence experience on T&D project for a consultancy.  The successful applicant does not have to have Renewable Energy experience and could have their experience from conventional power.  They also must have experience of regulatory issues in relation to the electricity sector.

Good report writing and communication skills,
Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team,
Sharp analytical skills and the ability to present quantitative knowledge to non-experts,
Excellent working ability of MS Office, knowledge in other economic/statistical packages welcome Ability to meet tight deadlines and produce quick turnover,
Preparedness to travel worldwide on short business assignments,
