Rail Jobs : Managing Estimator Bedford £55 - 70,000 + pkg
Major International Civil Engineering and Building Contractor with a turnover in excess of £2.5 billion require a Managing Estimator working in their Head-office in Bedford working within the infrastructure major projects division.
The firm is a major player and one of the top 5 contractor in the UK. Their core activities span building, civil engineering, opencast mining, facilities management, residential and commercial property investment and PFI project investment. Heavily involved in Education and health projects (including PFI) they also have a history working on major civil engineering projects for instance managed several CTRL sections valued over £100m.
Current major projects on the Infrastructure Section include:
£100m Power Station job in East Midlands.
£30m Network Rail Project at Kingscross.
They are on Enabling Works and Demolition framework for Cross Rail.
They are currently Bidding for major tunnelling sections on Cross Rail (part of JV's).
The core areas of work that Infrastructure division will concentrate on are Waste to Energy and Power - though the broader scope is to manage projects ranging in value from £20m - £150m.
The Managing Estimator role will be heading up a team of 5 Estimators working and co-ordinating all the bids reporting to the Infrastructure Director and interfacing with others in the Bid Team, includes: Pre-tender planners, Bid Managers, Project Manager, Quantity Surveyors, Health and Safety and others who are drafted in to prepare the bids. Each bid depending on the size could last 6 - 12 weeks and is very much a team effort.
