Civil Engineering : Tender Manager Hertfordshire £80 - £85,000 + pkg
A multi-disciplinary contractor with an annual turnover approaching £600 million, working in the civil engineering, building and rail infrastructure sectors. is seeking an experineced Tender Manager.
Due to the take over and the now financial backing of a multi billion pound turnover group, they now have the ability to compete with the likes of Balfour Beatty, Laing O’Rourke , Bam Nuttall, and Vinci. In doing so they need to bring in an experienced Tender Manager with the project experience c£50m + to manage the tender function.
The Role
Reporting to Pre Construction Director, managing a team of up to 5 Bid Mangers and heading major Bids responsible for the infrastructure bid team. Working on civil engineering projects throughout the UK consisting of: Highways, Rail, Structures, Power and water (project values in excess of £100m+). Duties will consist of
Management of Bid Managers with indirect management of Estimators, and Planners.
Ensure quality and consistency of all outgoing bids
Responsible for Bid Management processes promoting innovations and efficiencies
Bid management work for civil engineering tenders received within civil department, and supporting the estimating / planning team in delivering a competitive and qualitative bid
To work in tandem with other members of the bid team for specific bids in developing the best solution
To input into the overall strategy and methodology of construction
To present to customers in respect of key elements of bids
Liaise and share best practice with other Bid Managers
To review supply chain suitability and liaise on technical issues
Assimilate civil engineering market intelligence
Maintain relationships with clients and consultants
Preparation of Prequalification documentation and applications
Prepare and manage Quality/technical sections of tender submissions
The Ideal candidate must Be qualified at degree level in civil engineering or related construction subject, Extensive experience within Civil Engineering, Civil engineering main contractor background – with project experience in excess of c£50m, Commercial awareness essential & Sole management of Bids
