Civil Engineering : Civil Estimator Birmingham c£40,000 + pkg
A Major Civil Enigneering contractor is looking for an Experienced Estimator to work within it Midlands office. Based at Birmingham and working on civil enigneering schemes vauled up to £10m consisting of: Highways, Infrastructure, Structures, rail and water.
The ideal candidate will need to be preferablyMEng or BSc in Civil Engineering, have Experience in working in a variety of civil engineering sectors including roads/highways. A good working knowledge of outputs normally achieved by operatives and subcontractors in a number of trades and those operating various types of equipment. An appreciation of engineering techniques & their suitability. A practical knowledge of safe methods of working. Ability to assess site conditions from a physical inspection & interpretation of intrusive surveys & soils investigations. Practiced in quantification & familiar with standard methods of measurement. A record of securing successfully completed contracts. Candidate ideally has working knowledge of Candy estimating system.
Duties consist of:
Preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for a wide variety of civil engineering and associated minor building works.
Inform Senior Managers involved as to the risks and opportunities inherent in tender enquiries.
Co-ordination of estimating resources including bid manager, tender planning, commercial / contractual support, and tender administration.
Check & ensure maintenance of a controlled copy of Clients Enquiry document & resultant communications.
Review and report on the Clients Enquiry to enable a decision to bid.
Prepare subcontract & materials enquiries for administration & buying team. Review subsequent quotations.
Build up an accurate cost estimate for the permanent works in an elemental and analytical format.
Prepare an accurate cost estimate for the indirect resources required to carry out the works in accordance with agreed programme & engineering requirements.
Check labour & plant resources accumulated in the cost estimate balance with those derived from the tender programme.
Maintain risk / opportunity register for each tender.
Prepare & present the commercial aspects of the tender to the Directors/Senior Managers for adjudication and approval.
